Meet Salem (lovingly renamed ChonkyKong) , a resilient 3 year old long-haired sweetheart with a heartwarming story. ChonkyKong was abandoned in a remote area in Bahrain known for dumping pets and sadly contracted FIV after being attacked by other cats. Additionally, he suffered abuse from children, leaving him emaciated and fearful.

After multiple attempts, Salem was rescued and spent months at the vet recovering from his health issues. Due to a lack of fosters, he spent almost a year in a cage, which caused him to gain weight. However, a compassionate foster home took him in, affectionately calling him ChonkyKong and helping him shed a bit of the weight.

In his current foster home, Salem has truly blossomed. He has regained his trust in people and eagerly awaits his foster mom's return each day. Salem loves to snuggle up close during afternoon naps and enjoys spending quality time with his human. He may not be interested in toys, but he thrives on human companionship and is happiest when by your side. He particularly loves the afternoon naps and he sleeps as close to her face as possible.
He patiently sits on his foster mom's lap while she plays video games and he appreciates the kisses he gets on his forehead. He will even kiss you back too :)

ChonkyKong's ideal home would be with loving individuals who can shower him with attention. He's a laid-back cat who enjoys lounging by the window and soaking up the sun while his human is away at work. Due to him being an FIV+ cat, he shouldn’t be with other cats, unless they are also FIV+

ChonkyKong is currently in Bahrain and can be in The Netherlands at the end of May if adopted. His adoption fee is €275 which goes towards covering a small part of his vet and relocation costs from Bahrain. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested positive for FIV but negative for FeLV and Mycoplasma.
