Omschrijving
Frankie is a curious and clever 5 year old boy rescued in Bahrain with a heart full of love. Frankie is a special needs cat with a condition called Pica; please read thoroughly to understand what his needs are, as they are very important for his wellbeing.
Since 2019, he has lived happily with his rescuer and his best friend Cleo. Frankie's intelligence often leads him to memorable antics, like opening doors, drawers, and cabinets to retrieve his favorite snacks. He finds joy in bird watching, rushing to the window at the mention of "birdy," and spending endless hours chirping at the birds outside. Frankie's determination and cleverness mean you need to be mindful of where you store food or items you wish to keep out of his reach.
Frankie is very affectionate, using his tail to hug you and giving great head bumps when he anticipates food. He enjoys bringing his head close for forehead kisses and is always the first to greet you at the door. Frankie loves to snuggle, whether it's sleeping atop or next to you, and if allowed in your bedroom, he and Cleo will request to snuggle under the bed covers. Working remotely? Frankie will be your constant companion, laying on your arms and lap as you write on your laptop.
IMPORTANT: Frankie has a unique condition called Pica, which compels him to chew & swallow fabrics, triggered by his Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). His IBS is completely under control with bi-annual checkups and requires no medication. While his Pica has improved significantly, he still needs to be monitored around certain objects, especially fabrics like furniture, clothes, and anything he can physically chew. Living with a Pica cat like Frankie involves keeping your home tidy and fabric items out of reach. Creating a safe, fabric-free space for him to live in when you’re away or busy is a must for his safety. Despite this, Frankie is easy to manage with a bit of preparation and supervision.
Frankie is not as vocal as Cleo but communicates effectively with a sweet voice and a range of sounds. He purrs with excitement when he sees you in the morning, when food is being prepared, and when he’s extremely relaxed. Frankie loves food passionately, and offering snacks is the fastest way to his heart. However, his food intake must be monitored since he is a large boy, with a vet-recommended weight under 6.5 kg. Besides being a total foodie, Frankie is the cleanest cat you’ll ever meet, grooming himself thoroughly every day and maintaining a mess-free home. He also enjoys periodic baths.
Frankie has a strong bond with Cleo, playing and grooming each other daily. They share energetic play sessions and naps in sunny spots. Frankie loves food puzzles and hunting for treats, which keep him occupied and help reduce his Pica urges. The ideal adopter for Frankie would be a compassionate cat lover who treats pets like family, lives in a household with no children or other pets, enjoys spending time at home, and can provide a tidy, Pica-friendly environment (a room with no furnishings would be ideal). While a cat-proof garden or balcony is a plus, it's not necessary. Frankie is currently in Barcelona and will fly to the Netherlands once an adopter is found. If you’re looking for smart, affectionate, and playful cats, Frankie & Cleo are ready to bring joy and excitement into your home!
