Gretel

Gretel and her brother Hansel are ready to find their forever home after a rough start in life. Born in Bulgaria to an outdoor cat, they got rescued and lived in a shelter for the first 4 months of their lives where they had limited opportunities to play as they shared a small cage. Since November 2024 they are in a foster home in the Netherlands and have blossomed to playful, cuddly kittens who explore the world around them with curiosity and enjoy human company.

Gretel has the sleek silhouette of an elegant fashionista, and the requisite personality – it takes a bit of time to get to know her, but once she is comfortable, she is a real sweetheart. A bit shy, it may take her some time through play and feeding time to get more social. She prefers to observe before getting engaged in play or petting, and usually watches as her brother Hansel shows her the way. And then she shows her playful and loving personality. She is quite energetic and active, but also likes her own space – like any introvert, she needs to recharge on her own at times. She likes to be touched, but not to be picked up until she has built trust.

She is very smart and curious, and loves to play with her brother Hansel and with her human parent but also she plays with toys on her own as well. She loves food and treats, and is not pretentious, eating both wet and dry foods, is very clean with her toilet and no problems with scratching. She is an indoor cat but will be fine with a cat-proof balcony or terrace, or a secure small garden.

Gretel will be wonderful with a person or a family who can give her kindness, love and patience to let her to know them, and she will return the love in multi-folds. She is friendly with young children and can be in the company of other cats (not only with her brother).

Together with Hansel, they make a strikingly beautiful couple with their combination of a fluffy black fur and a sleek black silhouette, just as their complementary personalities are a bit outgoing and a bit introverted.

Gretel is vaccinated, neutered, chipped and has an international passport.
