Omschrijving

Nana was rescued from a shelter truck as a very small puppy (see the last pic for a puppy Nana). If her rescuers didn't take her on time she probably won't survive the terrible conditions of Turkish shelters. Since her rescue, she lived in a dog hotel/sanctuary with the same person running the dog hotel together with other rescued dogs and specifically with Boris (who will arrive in the Netherlands early February) since puppyhood. Although we are ready to separate the two, we would be thrilled if they can be adopted together as they are strongly bonded and since we break them up for their adoption in the Netherlands both struggled more than we anticipated.

Nana almost perfectly follows the 3-3-3 rule for adopted dogs. 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home. So she needs a family who can be patient with her during her transition.

Nana is an introvert kind of dog. She prefers to be fully her goofy and affectionate self with her parents (and if there is another dog in the house) and remain her distance from strangers and other dogs. Outside, she acknowledges other people and dogs but ignores their advances and keep up with her parents and walk away. She probably won't like to be in a dog park with lots of high energy dogs and prefer calm playdates with dogs she already knows.

She is a good running companion if you are into running, pacing herself instinctively to your pace. She is not used to bicycles (you can't see cyclists much in Turkey and she lived in a very quiet neighborhood) but with time and patience she may even learn to run next to your bicycle.

Since she comes from a very quiet neighborhood in Turkey and with almost no daily walking routine, she can be startled with new or loud voices and movements such as trams, trains, motorcylces etc. She needs a bit of patience as she gets used to these voices and movements.

At home, she is pretty calm and gentle. A perfect "Netflix and chill" companion (see the photos for how she likes to watch tv with her foster parents.). It has been 3 weeks since she arrived in the Netherlands and she already had zoomies in the house! Expect her to have a bit distance at first; then start to follow you everywhere and greet you with helicopter tail and a happy dance; and then start to have fun in the house.

She doesn't know toys or playing (never really had such interactions in her life) so you will have to teach her those. She already proven that she is a sniffer and loves the snuffle mats and treat dispensing toys.

She is very responsive to commands and training. There are many rabbits around her foster home and she doesn't chase and even when interested, she quits when said no. She is pretty food motivated which makes her easily trainable.

She is potty trained. She can stay at home alone for a couple of hours (4.5h for sure maybe more) without any chewing or barking problems.

She has zero aggressive streak in her and even if she is super scared she will simply try to avoid the situation. Overall, she is a low-maintanence good girl, who will be a great companion.

Can you give this beautiful girl a forever home? Please contact us for more info and her videos:))

Toelichting

Nana was rescued from streets in Turkey 5 years ago. She travelled to the Netherlands after 4 months of procedures. Her vaccinations are done and she has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.

Be her hero, contact us (e-mail/whatsapp/instagram) if you're interested to adopt Nana🙂
