Tommy

Tommy is a complete sweetheart – he enjoys cuddles, loves to purr when getting petted, and enjoys company. Since he was a little kitten, he liked being around people, who took good care of him. But then something happened – he ran away or was abandoned – as all of sudden, Tommy had to figure out the rough life of a stray cat on the streets in Bulgaria. And he ran out of luck when someone used an air rifle to shoot, and hit his back leg. Tommy was badly injured, and his story would have ended here, but kind people found him and took him to the vet.

Our volunteers met Tommy at that crucial moment of his life – when some vets wanted his leg amputated as they didn’t believe it will recover. But we found the doctor who wanted to give him a chance, and after a complex surgery, Tommy got his leg back! After months of treatment, Tommy is now fully recovered, walks normally on four legs and is ready to be loved again - and to give his kind purring to a loving family.

Currently Tommy is still living in the clinic in Bulgaria, and we are looking for a foster family to help him transition back to home life and to find his forever home in the Netherlands. As he still lives in a cage, the vets encourage us to find a home so he can get more movement and get the muscles on his leg strengthened. Otherwise, he does not require special care, and he does not take medications.

Tommy is a lovely companion with his curious personality, attentive observation of people around him – and he talks from time to time. Overall, he is social and easy to be taken care of - he is fully house trained and loves attention without being obtrusive. He is about 3 years old.

Tommy gets along with other cats – and will be happy if he can be placed in foster care and hopefully adopted together with his friend Raya (she is also placed for foster care here).

Tommy is ready to travel to the Netherlands – he is neutered, has current vaccinations, including rabies, and negative tests for the main feline viruses. He has a chip and an international passport, and can travel within a few days’ notice once a foster home is found. We are open to discuss the fostering arrangements and help to provide good care for him.
