Raya

A beautiful calico, Raya is a real gem – calm, loving, purring. And with fantastic, thick soft fur, inviting petting. Her story has some dark periods – obviously grew up as a house cat, but at some point she ended up in the street in Bulgaria, either because she ran away or was abandoned. It was hard for her to fend for herself as she didn’t have the skills – so when our volunteers found her, she was underfed and sick, with a big ulcer on her mouth. A caring and skilled vet took her in their clinic, and after several months of treatments, Raya recovered and is in excellent health – eats normally, gained weight and re-gained some of her love of being petted and cuddled.

She is ready to transition to a foster home in the Netherlands, where she can fully remember home life and get ready for a loving forever home. Right now she is very playful and is looking for attention – especially if the person has time to scratch her chin and pet her nose! She also likes to be carried around and is a real purring machine.

Raya is about 2 years old, neutered and fully vaccinated, including for rabis. She is friendly and enjoys the company of other cats, and will be happy if she can be in a foster home and eventually adopted with her friend Tommy, also posted here. But she will be fine as a solo cat as well.

Raya is chipped, has an international passport and can travel from Bulgaria in only a few days’ notice; our volunteers will take care of her ticket and transportation. We are open to discuss the fostering arrangements and help to provide good care for her.
