Ayla

After relocating to the Netherlands a year ago, I moved into a rented house with wallpapered walls. Unfortunately, Ayla has a habit of scratching walls when she’s bored—something she did in my old apartment too, though it wasn’t an issue with bare walls. Despite providing scratching posts and even trimming her claws, she continues to damage the wallpaper. Since I can’t modify the rental property, I’m faced with a tough choice—and I want to do what’s right for her.

Ayla isn’t a good match for homes with wallpaper or multiple pets. She prefers to be the only animal and didn’t bond with the second cat I brought in years ago (though she did get along with a rabbit!). She is shy with strangers and needs a quiet, patient home where she can feel safe and have space to hide. She’s also very intelligent—she’s learned to fetch and enjoys attention similar to what a dog might need.

The most important thing to me is that she finds a loving and understanding new home. I’m not asking for money for myself, but as an adoption fee, I kindly ask for a €20–€50 donation to Verhuisdieren, so that they can continue helping animals finding new and loving homes.
