Sandra

Sandra is a heart stealer with her alluring big eyes, like a tiny Puss in Boots with shiny black fur. She is a joyful, loving and highly curious kitten who likes to take the leader role. At the same time, she is also the perfect lap kitten, easily adaptable to new environments. Once she trusts you, expect a lot of love and attention from her. She will show it by purring, cuddling and also offering to groom your hands, hair or even face, if you let her. She loves to sleep on the pillow and be close to the source of petting. She often requests some attention by rolling and asking for belly rubs. But she can be also independent and can show curiosity about the outside, although she is a house cat and will be best fit for a secure balcony or an outdoor space where she cannot escape.

She loves playing and is very motivated by treats, so it’s easy to help her relax in a new environment or help her build her behaviors around mealtime or with some special snacks. She gets along with people and with other cats, and is especially close to Brittney, her soul sister. They both shared the difficulties of their early life, so now they are an inseparable pair.

As loving and curious as Sandra is, she didn’t have an easy start in life. It’s a miracle that she has such a sunny and loving disposition as she was born as a stray kitten in the streets of Bulgaria. It’s not known how she survived but when she was found at about 6 weeks of age, she was malnourished and sick, and would not have survived if she was not found by our volunteers. She was taken to a vet-run shelter where she was met with love, medical help and nutritious food. She started to recover and to show her confidence despite her tiny size, but they were still concerned about her future due to the local stigma which makes people less likely to adopt black kittens like her. Therefore, when the opportunity to find a forever loving home in the Netherlands came up, the staff send her off with wishes of luck and some tears.

Sandra, together with Brittney, has been living in a foster care in the Netherlands since early March, and has been very fast to adopt to home life. Although at first she was scared by noise and movements, in a couple of days she was ready to explore the house, show she is ready for meal times and meet the other kittens living there. She has never been outdoors since living in foster care but shows interest in the outside world. As it’s not clear whether she can adapt, a secured balcony or a terrace will be preferred.

Sandra is neutered, has all required vaccines, is chipped and has an international passport.

We are asking for a 50-euro adoption fee which will go to the foster parent to cover some ongoing expenses during her foster care.
