Amy

Amy came into our care about 2.5 years ago, rescued from a large group of neglected Shih Tzus used for backyard breeding. She was in poor condition back then, but with time, care, and love, she slowly became the sweet, gentle dog she is today.
She was adopted and had a home for a while, but about three weeks ago, she was returned to the shelter. We don’t know the reason for her return, but we truly believe it wasn’t due to anything she did. Amy has been a wonderful dog in our care – easygoing, loving, and gentle. We brought her back with us to the Netherlands to make sure she didn’t have to spend more time in a shelter environment.
Amy is calm, affectionate, and loves cuddles. She’s the kind of dog who’s happy just being near you – whether curled up in her bed in a funny position or quietly laying next to you on the couch. She walks with a soft little bounce and greets you with full-body tail wags every time.
• Age: Turning 6 in August
• Temperament: Friendly, cuddly, and laid-back
• With kids: Very good
• With dogs: Social and playful – she often starts the games
• Toilet training: Still adjusting; uses puppy pads or goes outside
• Energy level: Low to moderate
• Off-leash: Listens well once she’s bonded with you
• Quirks: Slightly stubborn at times, not always food-motivated outdoors, and a bit nervous with loud noises
• Cats: only tested once and she was fine
She also does not shed at all so she is hypoallergenic
Amy really is a lovely dog and we honestly don’t know why she has been returned to the shelter or found a forever home. We hope someone can offer her the stable, loving home she deserves – one that truly sees her and is ready to commit to her for good.
