Sèamus

We are hoping to find our boy Séamus a new, loving home. Due to serious illness in the family, we have to travel a lot and it became very hard to give Seamus time and home he deserves.

Seamus is 7 months old smart and curious Springer spaniel puppy with enormous levels of energy. He comes from family farm in Riethoven, where he did spend his first 8 weeks before joining our family. He loves playing and sniffing around. He is loving but chooses his time to be affectionate and we respect his space. He loves sleeping on the couch next to us and often comes for a cuddle. We have two young children, 3 and 8, and he is amazing with them. He loves playing with them, he sleeps on their laps but is not afraid to (gently) let them know, when he does not want any attention.
He is extremely clever, learns quickly, but there is a lot to learn for him yet.
Séamie is an instinct driven pup, he loves chasing the ball, looks out for the birds and is sniffing everything around when on the walk. We are also using sniffing toys and licking mats in the house to keep his mind busy. As a hunting breed, he will chase birds or cats, we always keep him on a long leash. He is pulling on it but we are in training -still working on the results. He is easy going with other dogs, always looks for a play time, he is a bit more reserved with people- he needs a moment to get to know the person. He is never reactive on the walks but would bark when he hears sudden noises or someone at the door. We usually give him some snacks to release the tension and it works like a treat - he loves his snacks. He does very well if he needs to stay home alone. We rarely leave him alone for long period of time but a few times he had to stay alone, he did brilliant.

We have few requirements for people interested in his adoption. First is recognizing his breed and what needs does he have. He is a working dog and needs daily walks, play time and mental stimulation. He is a great companion and as I said, he's done a great job in being alone for few hours but can't be left alone for long periods of time every day. He responds very well to training, but is not fully trained yet- you will need to spend time on it as it's a process - especially as he will be hitting his dog teenage years.
Seamus is not spayed yet, and one of our requests would be to sign the contract that he will be neutered. I hope all dog lovers will understand that we want to protect him. We’re looking for a committed, loving home that understands the needs of this special breed.
