Colt

Meet Colt, the happiest little shadow you’ll ever have! Officially his name on his passport is “Kont” (which means Earl in Turkish), but since that has an unfortunate meaning in Dutch, we’ve been calling him Colt. Of course, his future family is welcome to choose a new name for him — he’ll happily answer as long as it comes with cuddles.

Colt’s story started with heartbreak — abandoned by his owners, he was rescued from a shelter the very next day by a kind neighbor. Now safe and thriving in his foster home in Rotterdam, Colt is ready for his forever family. While he’s learning to handle being alone during the workday (he’s currently alone for up to 8 hours), it’s clear that he would love a home where someone has a bit more flexibility to give him some midday company or a walk. He’s not destructive or noisy when left alone, but long hours do make him lonely and sometimes result in potty accidents.

Colt has received professional obedience and socialization training back in Turkey, which shows in his wonderful manners. He’s excellent on leash, loves cafes and restaurants, and is perfectly behaved around other dogs — playful, friendly, and always ready to make new friends. Thanks to his training, he’s even great with cats; he knows how to stay close without bothering them.

While outside, Colt is a joyful explorer. He’s happiest running free at the dog park, playing and socializing, but at home, he transforms into a calm, quiet, and affectionate companion. He absolutely adores being close to his humans — personal space is not part of his vocabulary! If you let him, he’ll happily curl up on the couch or snuggle up in your bed, believing with all his heart that he is, in fact, a lap dog.

Colt is a young, vibrant boy who needs a family ready to include him in their daily life. We’re looking for adopters who have flexible schedules, can offer him adventures, long walks, regular trips to the dog park, and most importantly, plenty of love and companionship.
