Séamus

Seamus is a beautiful, friendly Springer Spaniel coming from a small family farm in Netherlands.
He is young (9 months) and adventurous, very eager to run, dig, sniff and work. He is very playful, loves cuddles and gets along with other dogs. He loves playing with our kids (8 and 3) but is not afraid to gently tell them off when he prefers to be alone. He is a very typical Springer Spaniel - true to his heritage, Seamus is incredibly curious and always alert. He loves exploring every inch of the backyard, sniffing every spot at the walks, following a trail on a hike, he brings intensity and focus to everything he does.
Seamus thrives with structure, purpose, and affection. Without enough stimulation or training, that intensity can turn into restlessness but with the right environment, he will become intuitive, loving, and deeply fulfilling partner.

Age: 9 months
Neutered: No
Health: Up-to-date on vaccinations, in great shape
Personality: Passionate, attentive, affectionate, loyal, intense, instincts driven
Energy Level: High – he thrives on activity and mental stimulation
Other dogs: Seamus generally enjoys being around other dogs, but on walks, he tends to stay focused on his surroundings and prefers to do his own thing rather than engage in play. If he were to live with another dog, it would need to be a calm, well-balanced companion without reactive tendencies. Seamus’s high energy can unintentionally trigger old or unstable behaviors in more sensitive or excitable dogs.

Training: House-trained; familiar with basic commands; eager to learn more with consistency.
He will require ongoing training- as Springer - he needs a lot of stimulation and structure.
He has been crate trained for last 1,5 month- with great results. He also has some struggles with nervous peeing, which current adopter is helping him with. (It's a fairly new behaviour- he didn't have it before- but stressful situations make it worse)

He’s especially tuned in to his environment and the people around him. That same intensity that makes him such an attentive and curious companion also means he does best in a home where he has space to roam, things to do, and people who appreciate an active lifestyle.

Ideal Home:
Seamus would flourish with someone who:
* Has experience with high-energy or working breeds
* Enjoys being outdoors and is active (he’d make a great hiking or running buddy!)
* Can provide consistent training and structure
(There is some behaviours which need to be tackled- like reflection chasing)
* Has a home with a secure yard or access to safe outdoor space
* Doesn’t mind a dog who wants to be involved in everything

Not Ideal For:
* People looking for a low-energy or highly independent pet
* Those unable to provide daily exercise and engagement
* People living in the apartment without access to the garden.

Seamus has not been neutered yet, and we kindly ask that his future adopter commit to having him neutered as part of the adoption agreement.

For the past month and a half, Seamus was on an adoption trial, but unfortunately, the resident dog in that home struggled to accept him. As a result, we're once again searching for a different—and hopefully forever—home for our sweet boy.

Letting go of Seamus has been incredibly difficult, but due to personal circumstances that have significantly limited our availability, we’ve had to make the painful decision to find him a home where he can receive the time, attention, and engagement he deserves.
