Omschrijving
Can you provide Nickie with a farm to call home so that he can live his life as a barn cat?
Nickie has been a playful and sometimes affectionate cat. He is extremely energetic and has required attentive play time with toys. He is also trained on a leash and likes to go outside for walks in quiet parks; he is scared by other strange cats if he comes across them outside.
He gets along with his current cat friend. However, Nickie shows dominance in their relationship and likes to be the boss. If you have other barn cats already, a careful introduction would be crucial.
Please note: Nickie has chronic urinary issues. To avoid this from resurfacing, he has to stay on a vet diet such as the Hills Urinary care dry and wet food.
Reason for rehoming: Nickie started in our family as a foster cat and then his owner did not want him back. He had a difficult time during his kitten months in his first household and suffered a lot from traumatic events relating to domestic violence and he was abused too. Due to Nickie's traumatic start in his life, he gets into strange mental states where he does not act like his usual self. He will suddenly go wild and attack by biting and scratching us. He is highly sensitive and triggered easily by random things. Furthermore, loud noises like shouting or screaming, even if it is excitement rather than anger, will trigger him to attack whoever makes the noise. However, he sometimes attacks people viciously for no clear reason.
Therefore, it is important that he goes to a calm environment.
We consulted with a highly recommended cat behaviourist but unfortunately nothing we did could improve his behaviour. He has bitten and scratched us quite severely in these instances and we are worried that he does this to someone else that takes over his care. So, we insist that he must not live in your home as a house cat/pet as this is too risky. Nickie really is a complex case.
We honestly love Nickie so much and it breaks out hearts to rehome him. However, he is simply too unwell and troubled to live as a pet cat inside. We want what is best for him too and we are hoping he can find that with new owners on a farm. We consulted with our vet and their advice is that Nickie would be happiest as a barn cat where he can run around freely to express his energy, follow his natural hunting instincts and not be too confined. If you can provide him with this type of home then we can move ahead with the adoption process.

Toelichting
Nickie's adoption cost is €50. This is to ensure that he is going to a home that can definitely afford the urinary diet food he needs to be on and to owners that are serious about keeping him. We will handover any leftover diet food, his bed and his favourite toys so that he feels at home fast.
