Omschrijving
Meet Colt – Our Energetic Gentleman with a Heart of Gold 🐾
Colt (originally named Kont, which means earl in Turkish) has already been through quite a journey. When his owners abandoned him at a shelter in Turkey, he was lucky to get out after just one night—those places can be heartbreaking. From there, he was moved to dog hotels where he received professional training in leash walking, basic obedience, crate time, staying home alone, and even café/restaurant manners. He also learned to ignore cats and other dogs.
Colt arrived in the Netherlands this summer and was quickly adopted—he truly is a very good boy. Unfortunately, after two months, his family returned him when the relationship with their dog broke down. Since then, we’ve discovered that while Colt still has all his training, he struggles in situations where other dogs are involved. He becomes overly excited, pulling and pulls strongly on leash—not out of aggression, but because he wants to play.
Because Colt absolutely loves playing with dogs, regular visits to a dog park or safe play area are almost necessary for him to truly get tired and satisfied. He is an energetic, athletic dog who would thrive with someone active. He’d make an excellent running or hiking partner, and with his drive and smarts, he could shine in agility or other dog sports. Despite his zest for life outside, he is wonderfully calm and quiet at home—a rare and lovely balance for such an energetic boy.
We are looking for an active family who can give Colt both the exercise and mental stimulation he needs. People who are open to dog training are especially welcome—he’s a great student and truly enjoys learning. In any case, Colt will need guidance to remember how to stay calm whenever another dog is in sight.
If you’re searching for a loyal, fun-loving, and affectionate dog who will bring both peace at home and adventure outside, Colt may be the one for you. ❤️

Toelichting
Colt travelled to the Netherlands after 4 months of procedures. His vaccinations are done and he has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
