Ester is very loving and affectionate. She enjoys cuddling, both with humans and her stuffies. She's smart and learns very quickly. She has a lot of energy, though she tires out easily with a quick energetic walk. She loves the outdoors and play, so her ideal adopter would have time and interest in throwing a ball or going on hikes. She needs someone to share space with and be close to. She should not be adopted by a family with young children because she is too excitable and jumps on them, and she has a history of nipping.
Her exact age is tough to determine due to the nature of her adoption. Ester was rescued by a program to rehabilitate 'Sato' dogs found in Puerto Rico and ship them to the mainland United States. We adopted her in 2020, She would have been around 6 month old. She has been a loving and loved part of our family for 6 years, and made the journey with us from the USA to the Netherlands.

We must re-home Ester because she has bitten our son on multiple occasions. Most bites have been just contact on skin and no breaking of the skin, but recently her bite broke skin, though it was minor and didn't require stitches. On this occasion, Ester was not feeling well and being treated for a UTI.
Still, we do not feel comfortable with this and so we advise that she go to a home with no young children as their play can be incompatible with a dog like Ester.
We have seen a behavioral specialist years ago. She prescribed Sertraline for anxiety, which we have continued to give Ester. We were also advised that due to the nature of young children and the difficulty of enforcing boundaries, we should re-home Ester. It is a difficult decision that we have now come to terms with.
Still, we do not feel comfortable with this and so we advise that she go to a home with no young children as their play can be incompatible with a dog like Ester.
