Omschrijving
Meet Bulut 🤍 — a calm soul with quiet strength
Bulut may look like a Dogo in photos 🙈 but she is actually an Akbash, a Turkish livestock guardian breed closely related to Anatolian Shepherds. She is estimated to be around 3 years old and carries the dignity, independence, and calm confidence that are so typical of her breed.
Bulut was found abandoned by a shepherd in the middle of nowhere. When she was rescued, she was heartbreakingly skinny, and it was clear she had likely had litters of puppies before — or had just been separated from one. Despite everything she’s been through, Bulut has a remarkably stable and composed temperament.
She has never lived in a real home environment, which makes us incredibly excited to see her finally experience soft beds, warmth, routine, and the safety of belonging to a family.
⸻
🐾 Life & habits
Bulut is currently staying in a dog hotel where she has indoor access and rests in a kennel/crate. Impressively, she does not pee or poo indoors at all. Like with all international adoptions, we expect that the first week in a new home may come with some accidents due to travel stress, climate change, food changes, time zones, and the effects of sedation. Once settled, we expect Bulut to be fully house-trained.
She is very food motivated, which will be a big help in building routines and training from scratch. She doesn’t know formal commands yet, but she is observant and learns quickly.
⸻
🚶♀️ Outside vs inside
As a livestock guardian type, Bulut isn’t a “run just to run” kind of dog — these breeds are typically calm and energy-efficient. However, Bulut enjoys being outside and loves walks. She can pull a bit on the leash at the moment, but this also means she could potentially become a lovely walking or light running partner once guidance and consistency are in place.
She is very receptive to leash and collar pressure, which makes a collar-and-leash setup ideal for her breed and temperament.
⸻
🧠 Personality & boundaries
Bulut is one of those dogs who observes and evaluates people before deciding how to engage. If someone approaches with fear or unclear intentions, she stays calm but distant. If you are confident, relaxed, in control — and especially if you have treats — you instantly earn her respect.
She is not aggressive, but she does have clear boundaries, especially when it comes to paw handling. She may growl or snap to scare when her paws are touched. However, once it becomes a routine and she understands expectations, she responds well to a calm, authoritative “hey” or “no” and complies. This is a process, not a problem — and very typical for her background.
⸻
🐕 Other dogs & noise level
Bulut ignores other dogs completely. She is confident in her size and strength and doesn’t feel the need to react or prove anything.
She is also very quiet — not a barking dog at all.
⸻
🏡 The right home
Given her breed and past as a livestock guardian, Bulut has the natural ability to be protective of her “herd” — her family. During walks with us, she showed no fear of strangers and no overprotectiveness, but introductions should always be structured and controlled, especially once she bonds to her own people.
Akbash and Anatolian-type dogs are known to be extremely calm and gentle at home, and they often do very well around children, provided the adults offer clear leadership and structure.
⸻
🤍 In summary
Bulut is a strong, calm, intelligent, and deeply dignified dog who needs a confident home willing to guide her gently but clearly. She is not a beginner dog, but for the right family, she will be an incredibly loyal, steady, and peaceful companion.
She has waited long enough. Now it’s time for Bulut to finally have a home of her own.
