Boris

Boris isn’t just a dog — he’s a deeply sensitive soul who gives his whole heart once he feels safe. Loyal, gentle, and eager to please, Boris truly wants to do well and make his person proud. He thrives with calm leadership, clear boundaries, and a predictable daily routine, which helps him feel secure and relaxed.

Boris’s story began in Ankara, where he was found as a tiny puppy during a snowstorm, cold, soaked, and alone in a metro station near a university campus. Surrounded by larger street dogs and unable to survive on his own, he was rescued by a volunteer who couldn’t walk away. After completing his vaccinations, Boris spent several years in a sanctuary before traveling to the Netherlands earlier this year. He was adopted quickly, but due to circumstances beyond his control, he is once again looking for stability and safety.

Inside the home, Boris can feel overwhelmed by busy environments or unfamiliar visitors. When things move too fast or he feels pressured, he may become tense or frightened and react defensively. This is fear-based behavior, not aggression, and it softens noticeably when he is given space, patience, and clear structure. A calm, experienced foster home that respects his boundaries would help him greatly.

Outdoors, Boris is a different dog. He is relaxed, confident, and happy, walks beautifully on leash, and responds very well off-leash. He enjoys running and playing with other dogs and may initially feel unsure around large male dogs, but settles well with gentle guidance. Sudden noises or movements can still startle him. He tends to trust women more quickly, though with consistency and time he builds strong bonds with men as well.

Boris has a naturally watchful side and will alert you when someone approaches the home or when delivery vehicles pass — simply part of his loyal nature. Outside the home, however, he is social and easygoing. He can calmly sit at terraces, travels well by metro or train, and even enjoys running alongside a bicycle.

Boris would do best in a peaceful, structured foster home, ideally with a garden or easy access to open spaces where he can decompress and move freely. Kindness, consistency, and patience are key to helping him feel safe and settled.

Once Boris feels that he belongs, he gives back tenfold. Gentle, devoted, and deeply loyal, he is the kind of dog who becomes your quiet shadow and trusted companion — a truly special soul. 🐾

Important note: Boris also has an active adoption profile. His current family is based in Bergen, and we are not sure for how long they are willing to keep him while we are continue searching for his forever home.
