Lumos spent years surviving on the streets of Turkey, cared for by dedicated volunteers who looked after her as best they could. When she was eventually captured and taken to a government shelter, everything changed. She completely shut down, stopped eating properly, and became alarmingly thin.
The volunteers couldn’t bear to watch her fade away and brought her to a private sanctuary. She was finally safe, enjoyed lying in the sunshine and being free from the shelter, but she stayed withdrawn and was still an incredibly picky eater.
Everything began to change after she arrived in the Netherlands in June.

Lumos was rescued from a government shelter in Turkey last year. She travelled to the Netherlands after 4 months of procedures. Her vaccinations are done and she has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
