Omschrijving
Gwen is extremely food driven but can only have her special food, Hills Prescription Diet Urinary Care Stress. The dry food of that sort can be used as treats. She also loves scrambled eggs as a treat. Just make sure to not cook the eggs in butter as she is allergic to dairy.
I adopted her 6 years ago with my expartner.
She is not quick to trust and you will need to earn her trust but once she trusts you she will be a cuddle bum and monster with her love. She wants to be with her human at all times. When I leave the room she is quick to follow once she has realized I'm not coming back to that spot.
The top bucket of her cat tree is her favorite sleeping spot. Her tree will go with her if possible. It should help her adjust to her new home having familiar smells of her old home on it. The cat tree should be set up in a spot that is near where you will spend a lot of time as she will want to be near you.
She was a street cat for the first four years of her life and I suspect that is the root of her trust issues. My ex-partner also did not help with the trust issues by not understanding cat body language and trying to be the one in charge. She needs to be boss. She is not the sort of cat that will be bossed around and will boss you around.
She will want to sleep in your bed with you and will not wake you up for food but will instead wait until she knows you are awake to start demanding breakfast.
As for the ideal adopter you need to be patient and willing to let her be boss. You will need to not be afraid of or get angry at claws. She will use soft paws as warning smacks to say "no" after she trusts you however until that trust is there she will use claws without the warning smack first. If you do not listen to that warning smack expect teeth. This is not aggression it is fear of new people. You will need to earn her trust.
I feed her 4 small meals a day but that can be reduced down to two or three, however you can not give her all of her daily food at once as she will eat it all and then throw it back up and immediately want more.
You will need to keep her litterbox scooped and not let any stinky poos remain in it. If she needs her litterbox and it has a poo in it still she will pee on the floor instead. The litterbox does not need to be pristine but poos can not stay long.
She will be very stressed in the beginning and might pee outside of the litterbox for that reason. If you can not be patient with her and simply clean it up or if you live in a house/apartment that the floors will be damaged by this please do not consider her.
She currently is indoor only with no access to outside. That is because my apartment does not accommodate for a safe way for her to be outside. If you are able to provide her with a screened in outdoor area she would probably love that. However she does have health issues related to food consumption, specifically the need for Hills Prescription Diet, so I do not think full access to outside would be safe for her.

Toelichting
I need to rehome Gwen because unfortunately I am being forced to leave the country and return to the United States and can not bring her with me. I do not want money for her, better spend the money on her to care for.
I will be leaving my apartment on July 14th and flying out of the country on July 16th. If you would like to adopt her please act fast as she will need to be put in a shelter if no one contacts me. I will be calling shelters tomorrow (July 8th) and will need to have her claimed before Friday (July 11th) and in her new home by Sunday (July 13th). I wish I could provide more time to get to know her and I wish I could keep her but because of circumstances out of my control I can not.
A special characteristic might be her half meow. She only does the first half of what people think of as a meow. It’s kind of a “meh!” sound. I can try to find a video of her doing it.
Her character I would say is a cross between an affectionate cuddlebum and a spoiled little diva.
She doesn’t play with me or often at all but when she does her favorite toys are the ones stuffed with valerian seeds.
She has severe arthritis and needs solensia once a month. 😢 Her next injection is due around August 4th and will cost approximately 45€
Ideal living conditions would be inside but with access to a screened in porch or patio.
If someone does adopt her I would love to stay in touch and receive photos and updates via whatsapp or similar.
