Mama Bear

Mama Bear is currently in Amsterdam and is looking for her forever home in the Netherlands or Belgium as the only cat in the household.

Her story is one of heartbreak and resilience. She was found outside a shopping mall in Bahrain, being beaten by a young man after being abandoned by her owners. She had just given birth to three kittens—only one survived. A Rescat volunteer arrived in time to stop the abuse and bring Mama Bear and her surviving kitten to safety.

After over a month of vet care and treatment for Mycoplasma, she was spayed, vaccinated, tested, and given a clean bill of health. Her kitten has since gone to another foster home, and both will be adopted separately.

Mama Bear is a calm, loving cat who enjoys gentle company and being held like a baby. She’ll greet you with soft “chats” when you return home and then curl up next to you, purring peacefully. Despite her past, she still believes in love and trusts deeply.

We also want to mention that she’s had some incidents of pooping outside the litter box. We believe this is stress-related after being attacked by the resident cat in her foster home, or possibly linked to her past trauma of abuse. For this reason, she must be the only cat in the home, where she can feel safe and relaxed again.

Mama Bear’s adoption fee is €275, payable upon arrival to her forever home. This covers part of her vet care and relocation from Bahrain. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and has tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and Mycoplasma.
