Omschrijving
Willy’s story began in a small village, tied to a short chain with nowhere to go and no one to love him. A volunteer removed him from that life, but after being placed in a sanctuary, he was almost released back onto the streets when the fees could no longer be paid.
Thankfully, the rescue team we work with stepped in just in time. Willy then spent three long years in a dog hotel/sanctuary — safe, but without the warmth of a real home.
✨ Recently, everything changed.
Willy arrived in Amsterdam and is now experiencing a true home environment for the very first time in his life. And he is loving every second of it.
⸻
Personality
Willy is incredibly affectionate and wants to keep his humans within sight at all times. He loves being petted and snuggled, but he also enjoys having his personal space — as long as he can continue observing you from a cozy distance.
He is playful, goofy, and generally food-motivated, which helps with training. Indoors, he takes treats well, but outside he may not always accept them because the world is simply too interesting.
And yes — he is a total crybaby when he wants something: more pets, a potty break, or to go say hi to the dog he just spotted on the street. It’s part of his charm and part of who he is.
At home, he shows wonderful manners:
• ✔️ Potty-trained
• ✔️ Not an excessive barker
• ✔️ Not a heavy chewer
⸻
Outdoors
Willy loves exploring new places and sniffing absolutely everything. While he can pull on the leash, it’s not excessive, and it’s mostly a sign of excitement. He responds well to gentle corrections and enjoys learning.
As a possible hunting-breed mix, his recall isn’t reliable and may never be safe in open, unfenced areas. His nose is his compass, and scents or small animals can completely capture his attention.
⸻
Other Dogs
Willy absolutely adores other dogs. He cries with excitement when he sees them and loves to play. A home with another playful dog would make him very happy, though he’d also thrive as a single dog with enough social opportunities.
⸻
Special Looks, Special Heart
Vets believe Willy is a Çatalburun mix, a rare Turkish pointer breed. He also has a cleft lip/nose, which is purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect his health, eating, or drinking.
We’re looking for a family who can look past the “unusual” face and see the incredibly sweet, observant, and lovable soul behind it.
⸻
Willy is…
• A happy, wiggly, affectionate boy
• Sensitive, expressive, and adorably dramatic
• Curious about everything
• Finally experiencing love for the first time
• Ready for a forever family who will adore him as much as he’ll adore them
If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet companion with character, charm, and the funniest little trot — Willy is your boy.

Toelichting
Willy travelled to the Netherlands after 4 months of procedures. His vaccinations are done and he has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
Be his hero, contact us (e-mail/whatsapp/instagram) if you're interested to adopt Willy🙂
