Picture a park in a residential neighbourhood in Turkey. A little family of dogs lived there — warm, open, and loving people with their whole hearts. But that same friendliness made them vulnerable. Too approachable, too trusting, they drew complaints from locals and the threat of animal control. Government shelters in Turkey are no place for dogs like these.
In June 2025, the whole family was brought to safety at a dog sanctuary. And now Myrtle has made her way to the Netherlands, ready to discover what home actually means.

Myrtle was rescued from streets in Turkey in June 2025. She travelled to the Netherlands after completing a 4 months of procedure - EU rules. Her vaccinations are done and she has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
